Few places in the world offer the
natural wonders to be found in and around Kaikoura. Surrounded by the majesty of
the South Island's Kaikouras mountain range, the city is situated along a rugged
coastline, where you can observe bird colonies clinging to rocky shores, pods of
dolphins, and whales. To the Maori, this is a place rich with historical
significance. Architectural remains bear witness to the Moa Hunters that
inhabited the region 900 years ago--many of whom may have enjoyed swimming with
the dolphins, just as you may today. |
